TamGroup announces Supplier Portal built on IBM™ WebSphere Portal Express
J.D. Edwards, SAP customer's automate their order processing through Portal and XML web standards
San Anselmo, CA - TamGroup today announced Supplier
Portal, a solution built on IBM WebSphere Portal - Express for Windows*,
which IBM unveiled this week. TamGroup's Supplier Portal is a complete
Web-based solution for organizations that need to automate the transaction
of orders between partners and suppliers.
This solution utilizes XML, EDI, and portal technology to automate the
business process of entering, processing, and confirming orders. Supplier
Portal is initially available with pre-built portlets for J.D. Edwards or
SAP systems that are resident on servers running IBM iSeries, Linux, IBM
AIX, Microsoft Windows, and others. Supplier Portal can turn any XML or
EDI message into a portal presentation so that any partner may securely
access the transaction via a portlet developed by TamGroup.
TamGroup's Supplier Portal has been developed to assist suppliers and
vendors sell and order products using business-to-business messaging
transactions over the Internet or through a private portal. Suppliers'
largest customers can make purchases via EDI or XML over the internet.
Smaller customers can place and receive orders via the private portal
interface. This satisfies all partners in the supply chain.
Customers using TamGroup's supplier portal will enjoy increased operational
efficiencies and lowered transaction costs. It can virtually eliminate fax
and telephone orders, potentially saving companies tens or hundreds of
thousands of dollars annually. Once installed, the portal infrastructure
can be quickly extended to internal users, offering improved access to
information through a personalized interface.
"With its quick deployment, ease of use and attractive price -- all
fundamental values of WebSphere Portal - Express -- TamGroup's Supplier
Portal's promises a swift return-on-investment," said Larry Bowden, Vice
President, IBM Portals Solutions Software Group. "It is impressive, but
not surprising, how quickly TamGroup has been able to create its new
Supplier Portal offering using WebSphere Portal - Express."
TamGroup's Supplier Portal is built using the company's NEXUSe2e XML
messaging software, combined with IBM's WebSphere Portal - Express
software. "This combination of XML standards software and IBM's WebSphere
Portal - Express platform create an unbeatable combination of price
performance and scaleable architecture to meet the largest customer
requirements" states Christian Franklin, VP of Strategy at TamGroup.
"Given the shaky economic environment of today and the continued
uncertainty, no company considering portals should miss looking at IBM's
WebSphere Portal - Express. IBM has built their portal offering on a
proven, Web standard application server platform with the appropriate tools
that allow us to deploy portals in a fraction of the time compared to other
products. But the real savings is in WebSphere Portal's ability to scale
across the enterprise," Says Bob Hoover, TamGroup's VP Marketing.
